Winton Munch and the Hope College men's golf team are back in a familiar position atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings.
The reigning MIAA champions grabbed the lead in the league standings Saturday by winning the third MIAA Jamboree of the season with a score of 298 at Pine River Country Club in Alma.
Munch, a junior from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central HS), topped Hope with a 1-under-par 71 that tied him for second place.
Hope finished two strokes ahead of runner-up Kalamazoo, five better of third-place Trine and eightahead of fourth-place Calvin.
The Flying Dutchmen leapfrogged Calvin and Kalamazoo in the overall standings. They are three shots ahead of Calvin and five better than Kalamazoo.
Freshman Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), tied for ninth at Pine River with a 74.
Freshman Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), chipped in 75, while freshman Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), shot a 78.
Sophomore Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), had a 79.
Hope returns to action on Monday, Sept. 21 with the MIAA Jamboree at Kalamazoo Country Club.
