Three Hope College men's golfers finished within one stroke of each other as the Flying Dutchmen took third place at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree on Monday in Kalamazoo.
Hope shot a team score of 306 at Kalamazoo Country Club to finish four strokes behind first-place Calvin and two behind second-place Kalamazoo.
Halfway through the jamboree schedule, Hope trails Calvin by one stroke and is four ahead of Kalamazoo.
Junior Winton Munch of Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central HS), carded a 4-over-par 75 at Kalamazoo Country Club to lead the Flying Dutchmen. He tied for sixth.
Two Hope golfers were one stroke behind Munch and tied for eighth: sophomore Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), and freshman Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS).
Freshman Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), rounded out Hope's scoring with a 79 that tied him for 19th.
The Flying Dutchmen also received an 80 from freshman Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS).
Hope returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 26 at the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Trine at Zollner Golf Course in Angola, Indiana.
