Winton Munch and the Hope College men's golf team are back atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association in a back-and-forth league race.
The Flying Dutchmen finished second at Saturday's jamboree in Angola, Indiana, to take a 1-shot lead over Calvin in the overall standings after five events. The overall lead has exchanged hands in each of the past three jamborees.
Munch carded an even-par 71 to lead Hope. The junior from Traverse City, Michigan (Traverse City Central HS), tied for fourth place.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled a team score of 292 to finish two strokes ahead of third-place Calvin. Trine won with a 287.
Hope's five golfers came within five strokes of each other.
Freshman Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), tied for sixth with a 72.
Freshman Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS), tied for 10th with a 73.
Sophomore Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS), and freshman Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), each had 76s.
Hope returns to action on Monday, Sept. 28, when the Flying Dutchmen play in the MIAA Jamboree hosted by Calvin at Watermark Country Club in Grand Rapids.
