Runner Ben Zank and the Hope College men's cross country team celebrated the 50th annual Vanderbilt Invitational in grand style, winning the event for the 17th time.
The Flying Dutchmen posted a score of 23 points at Ridge Point Church to top the six-team field on Saturday.
Zank, a senior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), clocked the top 5K time of 16 minutes, 00.6 seconds.
Hope recorded four of the fastest five times and seven of the top 12 runs.
Junior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS), finished third at 16:13.6.
Senior Joseph Beemer of St. Joseph, Michigan (St. Joseph HS), took fourth at 16:23.8.
Sophomore Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect HS), came in fifth at 16:27.0.
Sophomore Jacob Jansen rounded out the Flying Dutchmen's scoring with a 10th-place effort of 16:39.3.
Junior Leland Cook of Ada, Michigan (Forest Hills Central HS), placed 11th at 16:39.5.
Junior Julian Morrison of Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS), was 12th at 16:40.0.
The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Calvin Invitational in Grand Rapids.
