Hope College runner Ben Zank has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for Week 1 of the season.
The senior from Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow HS), finished first out of a field of 39 runners at Hope's Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 5.
Zank clocked a winning 5K time of 16 minutes, 00.6 seconds to help the Flying Dutchmen place first out of six teams with a score of 23 points.
This is the second time Zank has been received a weekly cross country honor from the MIAA.
Zank and Hope return to action on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Calvin Colege Invitational in Grand Rapids.
