Hope College's Sarah Sheridan improved her own school record in 1-meter diving during the Michigan Illinois Quad on Saturday at Holland Community Aquatic Center.
The senior from Richmond, Indiana (Richmond HS) posted a score of 295.40 points to win her event. She passed her old mark of 276.50 that was two years old.
The Flying Dutch won five events total en route to a second-place finish. Hope totaled 598 points at Holland Community Aquatic Center to trail Kalamazoo's 632. Hope finished ahead of Wheaton, Illinois (535) and Lake Forest, Illinois (260).
Sheridan also took first in 3-meter diving with a score of 289.40.
Freshman Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS) took first in the 50-yard freestyle. She had a swim of 26.12 seconds.
Freshman Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) won the 1,000 freestyle in 11:05.08.
Freshman Sara Hudson of Novi, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep HS) clocked a winning time in the 200 butterfly of 2:28.37.
Hope placed second in the 400 medley relay. Junior Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adam HS), senior Jorgie Watson of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Catholic Central HS, freshman Elisabeth Craig of Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) and senior Klare Northuis of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) clocked a time of 4:04.18.
Junior Mikayla Freyling of Alto, Michigan (Grand Rapids South Christian HS) was runner-up in the 100 freestyle at 59.06.
Sophomore Adrienne Smith of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven HS) took third in the 200 breaststroke at 2:51.18.
Hope came in third in the 400 freestyle relay. Asselin, sophomore Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS), Brinks and sophomore Elizabeth Fris of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) had a time of 3:43.85.
The Flying Dutch return to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 at Albion for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
