Women's Soccer Enjoys Record Senior Night In Win Vs. Saint Mary's

Box Score

The Hope College women's soccer team made Senior Night a memorable one with a record performance in an 8-0 win against Saint Mary's on Wednesday.

The Flying Dutch tied a Van Andel Soccer Stadium record for goals scored in a home match, while senior Elizabeth Perkins of Eaton Rapids, Michigan (Lansing Christian HS) set the single-season points mark.

Hope (12-3-2 overall) pulled event with idle Kalamazoo atop the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association standings. The Flying Dutch, who are 11-2-2 in league play, have played one more league game than the Hornets.

Perkins and seven other seniors were honored during a pregame ceremony: Natalie Curry of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville Calvin Christian), Rachel deMarigny of Park Ridge, Illinois (Maine Township South), Kendall Dice of Allendale, Michigan (Unity Christian HS), Jessica Lockwood of Kentwood, Michigan (South Christian), Molly Miedema of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake), and Jennifer Thelen of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Andover), and manager Brooke Hubbel.

Hope's eight goals matched the Van Andel Soccer Stadium record by the 2012 Flying Dutch in an 8-0 win against Albion.

Perkins chipped in two goals and one assist to raise their point total for the season to 51, a school record. She passed Melody Morscheck's previous 1997 record of 48.
