Sara Plohetski posted a fifth-place finish in 3-meter diving to lead the Hope College women's swimming & diving at this weekend's 12-team University of Chicago Invitational.
The sophomore from of South Lyon, Michigan (South Lyon HS) recorded a score of 343.95 points during the meet that featured NCAA Division I, Division III competitors.
The Flying Dutch finished eighth in the team standings with 153 points.
Freshman Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) came in sixth in the 200 butterfly at 2:09.44. Palajac was 16th at 2:16.14.
Hope posted the seventh-fastest time in the 800 freestyle relay. Senior Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adams), sophomore Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern), sophomore Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) and Emmert went 8:09.59.
The Flying Dutch were 10th in the 400 medley relay. Meyer, Nolte, junior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn) and Asselin had a swim of 4:06.32.
Hope took 10th in the 200-yard medley relay. Meyer, freshman Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community), Palajac and Asselin clocked a time of 1 minute, 52.64 seconds.
Nolte placed 11th in the 100 breaststroke with a swim of 1:09.30.
Nolte and Meyer finished 13th and 14th in the 200 individual medley at 2:17.34 and 2:17.44, respectively.
Hope's next meet is Friday-Saturday, Dec. 2-3 at the Wheaton Invitational.
