Erin Emmert and Molly Meyer both won events for the Hope College women's swimming & diving team on Friday at the Wheaton, Illinois Invitational.
Emmert finished first in the 200-yard butterfly. The freshman from Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic HS) clocked a time of 2 minutes, 8.92 seconds.
Meyer clocked the top performance in the 200 backstroke. The senior from South Bend, Indiana (John Adams) posted a time of 2:05.25. Emmert was fifth in the event at 2:11.16.
Meyer swam the lead leg in the runner-up 400 medley relay that went 3:58.78. She teamed with freshman Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community), junior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn) and sophomore Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian).
Meyer also placed fourth in the 200 individual medley with a swim of 2:11.61.
Emmert anchored the fifth-place 200 freestyle relay that clocked a time of 1:39.83. She teamed with Asselin, sophomore Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) and freshman Erica Slenk of Zeeland, Michigan (Holland Christian).
Nolte took sixth in the 100 breaststroke at 1:07.59.
The 800 freestyle relay of Nolte, freshman Sophia Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), freshman Allison Sobkowski of Portage, Michigan (Portage) and senior Payton Hoff of Clarkston, Michigan (Pontiac Notre Dame Prep) was seventh at 8:20.43.
Asselin was eighth in the 100 free at 54.78.
The Flying Dutch are fourth in the team standings. Washington-St. Louis has 539 points and is followed by Wheaton (393), Wisconsin-Whitewater (332), Hope (314) and Wisconsin-Stevens Point (122).
