Two school records for the Hope College indoor track & field teams fell Friday at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Allendale.
Senior Ben Zank of Midland (H.H. Dow HS) set a new top time for the 5,000 meters for the Flying Dutchmen, while junior Erin Herrmann of Wheaton, Illinois (Wheaton-Warrenville South HS) broke the 3K record for the Flying Dutch.
Zank recorded a time of 14 minutes, 55.54 seconds against a field that featured Division I, Division II, Division III and unattached competition. He placed 40th out of 150 runners.
Zank bested his own record of 15:10.67 that was set last season.
Herrmann clocked a time of 9:52.98. She improved her own school record in the 3,000 meters, which was 10:06.94.
Herrmann finished 16th out of 39 runners from a field that featured Division I, Division II, Division III and unattached competition.
The time is the fourth-fastest indoor time in Division III this season.
