The Hope College women's swimming & diving team finished second in the 800-yard freestyle relay at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships.
Junior Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adams HS), freshman Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS), sophomore Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS) and sophomore Elizabeth Fris of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS) clocked a time of 7 minutes, 40.72 seconds for the Flying Dutch. Calvin won the event in 7:31.21.
Hope earned 34 points in the meet's only scoring event on Wednesday at Calvin. The Flying Dutch trail the Knights by six points.
Hope leads third-place Kalamazoo (32), Albion (30), Alma (28) and Olivet (26).
The four-day meet continues on Thursday with 10 a.m. preliminaries and 5:30 p.m. finals.
