Hope's Zach Golin Named NCAA Division III Women's Diving Coach Of The Year

Hope College's Zach Golin has been chosen the College Swimming Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III Women's Diving Coach of the Year.

The award was announced Saturday night after the conclusion of the NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving Championships in Greensboro, N.C.

It is the first time Golin has received the national distinction.

Golin coaches both the men's and women's divers at Hope, including 2016 3-meter national champion and Division III Women's Diver of the Year Sarah Sheridan.

Sheridan also placed third in the 1-meter board at this year's national meet. She concluded her career as a six-time All-American.

Head coach John Patnott said Golin has earned the national recognition.

"He's learned his craft. He's progressed over the years and become an excellent coach," Patnott said. "He is very patient. He works his divers pretty hard. Sarah's the result."

This is Golin's ninth season on Hope's staff. He's been diving coach since 2010.

Golin has learned how to keep everything for himself and his divers in perspective, Patnott said.

"He's got a nice way of working with divers, pushing them, but without pushing them," Patnott said.
