Box Score 2 The Hope College women's tennis team splits its first two matches at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Midwest Regional on Friday in Madison, Wisconsin.
The 27th-ranked Flying Dutch defeated Kalamazoo 5-1 to rebound from a 5-4 loss to Kenyon, Ohio earlier in the day.
Hope is now 5-4 overall on the season.
Senior Anna Garcia of Battle Creek, Michigan (Lakeview HS) went 2-0 on the day at No. 2 singles.
Hope's No. 1 doubles team also won both of its matches: junior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) and senior Marie Holaway of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS).
The Flying Dutch are scheduled to play two more matches on Saturday.
