Sophomore Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) shot an even-par 71 at Stonewater Country Club to lead the Hope College men's golf team to a runner-up finish at the Furniture City Classic on Saturday in Caledonia.
The Flying Dutchmen finished with a team score of 291 at the four-team event. They were eight strokes behind winner Davenport.
Hoeksema tied for the second-lowest round in the 22-golfer field.
Two Hope golfers chipped in 72s: junior Winton Munch of Traverse City, Michigan (Central HS) and freshman Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS).
Freshman Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton HS) carded a 76 for the Flying Dutchmen.
Senior Kevin Cross of East Grand Rapids, Michigan (East Grand Rapids HS) had a 78.
Cornerstone (312) placed third, while Calvin (316) was fourth.
Hope returns to action on Tuesday, April 19 at the Calvin Spring Invitational at Pilgrim's Run in Pierson.
