The Hope College men's track & field team took first in six events while winning the Alma College Jim Cole Scottie Open with a score of 207 points.
The Flying Dutchmen finished ahead of runner-up Lake Superior State (129) in the six-team event.
Hope swept the top five performances in the 800-meter run: junior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit HS) in first at 1:55.74, junior Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River HS) in second at 1:56.09, sophomore Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills HS) in third at 1:56.30, senior Matt Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville HS) in fourth at 1:57.21 and freshman Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi HS) in fifth at 1:57.68.
The Flying Dutchmen recorded the top two times in the 4x400 relay.
Senior Gavin Midlam of East Lansing, Michigan (East Lansing HS), Wolliston, Jones and Salomon won with a time of 3 minutes, 23.34 seconds.
Freshman Prescott Binder of Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East HS), Thomas, Webb and junior Richard Medina of Bensenville, Illinois (Timothy Christian HS) were second in 3:32.00.
Freshman Ben Turner of Albion, Michigan (Olivet HS) won the pole vault at 4.11 meters (13 feet, 6 inches). Senior David Lunderberg of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS) took second at 3.96 (12-0), while freshman Justice Burley of Holland, Michigan (Holland HS) was fourth at 3.50 (11-6).
Sophomore Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect HS) clocked a winning time in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at 9.33.15. Freshman Andrew Kalthoff of Carmel, Indiana (Carmel HS) was fifth at 10:06.40.
Midlam took first in the 400-meter hurdles at 54.82.
Hope won the 4x100 relay as senior Luke Washington of Bolingbrook, Illinois (Timothy Christian HS), freshman Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa HS), junior Matt Pelyhes of Augusta, Michigan (Gull Lake HS) and senior Boone Marois of Traverse City, Michigan (Central HS) clocked a time of 43.66.
Freshman Louis Kopp of Spring, Texas (Providence Classical HS) placed runner-up in the triple jump at 13.25 meters (43-6). Washington was fifth at 12.28 (40-3).
Junior Julian Morrison of Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS) posted a second-place, 5,000-meter run of 15:47.82.
Freeman placed third in the 100-meter dash at 10.97. He was followed by Marois in fourth at 11.09, senior Dion Goliday of Muskegon, Michigan (Oakridge HS) in fifth at 11.14 and Pelyhes in sixth at 11.36.
Sophomore William Henkel of Lambertville, Michigan (Erie-Mason HS) took third in the high jump by clearing 1.80 meters (5-11). Freshman Eddie Ip of Grand Rapids, Michigan (South Christian HS) was fifth at 1.65 (5-5).
Hope went 3-4-5 in the long jump with freshman Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville HS) at 6.14 meters (20-1), Kopp at 5.97 (19-7) and Freeman at 5.89 (19-7).
Hope went 3-4-5 in the 200-meter dash: Marois in third at 22.33, Freeman in fourth at 22.33 and Pelyhes in fifth at 23.01.
Burley finished fourth in the javelin at 41.79 meters (137-1).
Freshman Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen HS) took fifth in the 1,500-meter run at 4:12.93.
Hope returns to action on Friday-Saturday, April 22-23 at the Grand Valley State Al Owens Invitational.
