Goalie Blair McCormick of the Hope College men's soccer team has been selected the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Defensive Player of the Week for matches played through September 11.

The freshman from Wadsworth, Illinois (Warren Township HS) is honored after registering his first two collegiate victories and allowing just one goal in each match last week.

McCormick made eight saves in 92 minutes, 22 seconds of play Saturday during a 2-1 overtime win against Benedictine, Illinois in the Cal Bergsma Memorial Tournament at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

McCormick did not make a save, but played all 90 minutes in goal of a 3-1 win against Grace Bible in Wednesday's home opener for the Flying Dutchmen.
