Men's Cross Country Finishes Third At MIAA Jamboree

Ben Pederson posted a fourth-place effort to lead the Hope College men's cross country team to a third-place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree Saturday in Alma.

The junior from Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect HS) clocked an 8K time of 25 minutes, 46.2 seconds for his place among 115 runners.

Hope scored 96 points to place four points ahead of fourth-place Trine. Calvin won with 18 points, while Albion was runner-up with 72.

Senior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) took 18th with a run of 26:25.2.

Junior Jacob Jansen of Johnston, Iowa (Johnston) came in 29th at 26:50.6.

Senior Julian Morrison of Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley) was 30th at 26:53.9.

Senior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit) rounded out Hope's scoring in 45th at 27:19.0.

Others in Hope's top seven were sophomore Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen) at 27:25.0 and freshman Joseph Dawson of Richland, Michigan (Gull Lake) at 27:49.6

The Flying Dutchmen return to action on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Louisville Invitational in Louisville, Kentucky.
