Men's Cross Country Repeats As Vanderbilt Invitational Champions

Julian Morrison and the regionally ranked Hope College men's cross country ran to a winning score at the Bill Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday at Ridge Point Community Church.

Morrison posted a first-place time of 26 minutes. 33.5 seconds. The senior from Aurora, Illinois (Waubonsie Valley HS) helped the Flying Dutchmen recorded a winning total of 15 points and win the event for the second consecutive time. Muskegon Community College was second with 45 points.

Hope entered the meet ranked ninth in the preseason United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association Great Lakes Regional cross country rankings.

Senior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern HS) came in second for the Flying Dutchmen at 26:44.4.

Junior Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect) took third in 26:51.4.

Junior Jacob Jansen of Johnston, Iowa (Johnston) placed fourth in 27:42.6.

Freshman James Cerone of Fishers, Indiana (Fishers) rounded out Hope's scoring in fifth at 28:10.0.
