Welcome to the Cal Bergsma Memorial Tournament, a joint event between Hope College and Calvin. Hope will host Aurora, Illinois on Friday at 7 p.m. and Benedictine, Illinois on Saturday at 7 p.m. Calvin hosts Benedictine on Friday at 4 p.m. and Saturday at 4 p.m.

The Bergsma Memorial Tournament honors the memory of Dr. Calvin Bergsma, who died tragically in a car accident during the summer of 2001. A 1967 graduate of Calvin College, Dr. Bergsma was a West Michigan urologist who was known as a kind-hearted man who cared deeply for everyone. Dr. Bergsma had family ties to both Hope and Calvin as his wife Gwen (1968) and son Corwyn (1996) are Calvin graduates, while his son Clayton is a graduate (2000) of Hope College. Clayton was a four-year member of the Hope men's soccer team, while Corwyn was a four-year member of the Calvin men's basketball program.
The Flying Dutchmen have claimed Bergsma Memorial titles seven times since in 15 years: 2014, 2012, 2011, 2010, 2008, 2002 and 2001. Click here to read more about the Bergsma Memorial Tournament, including past results.
