The Hope College women's swimming & diving team finished first in 11 events to earn a 155.5-142.5 victory against Albion on Saturday in a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association dual meet at Holland Community Aquatic Center.
Junior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn HS) recorded the fastest performance in three individual events and swam the second leg of the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay.
Palajac won the 100 freestyle in 54.59 seconds, the 100 butterfly in 58.19 seconds and the 200 butterfly in 2:09.77.
Palajac teamed with senior Molly Meyer of South Bend, Indiana (John Adams), sophomore Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) and sophomore Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian HS) to close the meet with a winning 400 freestyle time of 3:39.19.
Junior Elizabeth Fris of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) placed first in the 500 freestyle at 5:22.04 and the 1,650 freestyle at 18:07.44. Brinks was runner-up in both events at 5:27.83 and 18:47.39, respectively.
Meyer swept the 100 backstroke and the 200 backstrooke in times of 58.67 and 2:07.88, respectively. She was runner-up in the 100 butterfly at 59.36.
Asselin tied for first with Albion's Nicky McCann in the 50 freestyle as both touched the wall at 24.96 seconds. Asselin was second in the 200 freestyle at 2:02.88.
Sophomore Sara Plohetski won both 1- and 3-meter diving with scores of 237.55 and 233.75, respectively.
Freshman Paula Nolte of Elmhurst, Illinois (York Community) finished runner-up in the 100 breaststroke (1:09.76) and the 200 breaststroke (2:32.57).
Freshman Erin Emmert of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Flint Powers Catholic) was second in the 200 butterfly at 2:13.11.
Hope's next meet is Saturday, Jan. 28 against visiting Alma at Kresge Natatorium.
