The 22nd-ranked Hope College women's soccer team kicks off postseason play with an MIAA Tournament semifinal at home against Calvin College on Thursday. Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Van Andel Soccer Stadium.

The Flying Dutch (16-2-1 overall) enter the tournament as the No. 1 seed after winning the regular-season title for the sixth time with a 14-1-1 league record. Fourth-seeded Calvin (12-8 overall) went 9-7 in MIAA matches.

Thursday's winner advances to Saturday's championship match against either second-seeded Olivet College or third-seeded Adrian College. The MIAA Tournament champion receives the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Championship.

Hope has qualified for the MIAA Tournament seven of eight times since the league moved to a four-team postseason format in 2010.

The Flying Dutch own a 13-10 record all-time in MIAA Tournament play since it was first held in 1996. Hope is 6-4 in semifinal matches after having won the last five such contests in a row.

The Flying Dutch defeated Calvin 4-0 in last season semifinal en route to a tournament championship. Hope is 1-5 all-time against the Knights in postseason play.

This season, Hope defeated Calvin twice: 4-0 on September 16 at Van Andel Soccer Stadium and 2-0 at Calvin on October 16. The Flying Dutch trail the all-time series 32-17-5.

Head coach Leigh Sears is in her 17th season with the Flying Dutch. She has a career record at Hope of 207-104-24.

Junior Grace Bubin tops the Flying Dutch this season with 10 goals and 25 points. She also has five assists.

Eight different Hope players have scored at least five goals this season. Senior Allie Wittenbach and junior Rylie Dalton are tied for second with seven apiece.
