Women's Soccer To Face Wisconsin-Whitewater In NCAA Tournament Opener

The Hope College women's soccer team is heading to the University of Chicago this weekend to kick off the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion Flying Dutch (18-2-1 overall) will face Wisconsin-Whitewater (14-3-4) in a first-round match at the University of Chicago at 1:30 p.m. Central Friday at Stagg Field, 5530 South Ellis Avenue in Chicago.

The winner advances to play either Chicago (17-1-0) or St. Catherine, Minnesota (9-6-4) in the second round at Stagg Field.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $3 for students and senior citizens, and free for children 5 years old.

This is Hope's sixth NCAA Division III Tournament and third in four seasons. Coach Leigh Sears and the Flying Dutch earned their postseason appearance after winning MIAA regular-season and tournament championships.

Whitewater received an at-large berth after falling in the championship game of the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament. This is the Warhawks' seventh consecutive postseason appearance.
