Men's Golf Claims Title At Kalamazoo's Steven Tyler Classic

Junior Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) carded 1-over-par 73 at The Moors Golf Club in Portage to lead the victorious Hope College men's golf team at the Kalamazoo College Steven Tyler Classic on Monday.

The 18th-ranked Flying Dutchmen finished the nine-team event with a team score of 300.

Hope placed eight strokes better than runner-ups Calvin and Kalamazoo.

Hoeksema, pictured, came in third place out of 47 golfers — two strokes behind medalist Ben Van Scoyk of Calvin.

Sophomore Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) took fourth with a 74.

Sophomore Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) tied for fifth after a 75.

Senior Winton Munch of Traverse City, Michigan (Central) rounded up the Flying Dutchmen's scoring with a 78 that tied him for 10th.

Sophomore Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake) tied for 26th with an 82.

Hope returns to action on Tuesday, April 18 at the Calvin Spring Invitational at Pilgrim's Run Golf Course.
