Box Score The 21st-ranked Hope College women's tennis team is Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association champion for the 24th time in school history after winning 9-0 at Saint Mary's on Saturday.
The Flying Dutch clinched at least a share of the league title with their seventh MIAA victory in as many matches.
Hope (16-3 overall) leads Calvin and Kalamazoo by one loss with one league match remaining. The Flying Dutch host Adrian for their regular-season finale on Saturday, April 29 for Senior Day.
Hope also clinched the top seed for next month's MIAA Tournament with the victory. The Flying Dutch own tiebreakers with wins against Calvin and Kalamazoo.
Hope has won all 63 matches it has played against MIAA opponents this season.
Against Saint Mary's (10-11, 3-2 MIAA), the Flying Dutch won three matches while dropping only one game: senior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) at No. 1 singles, freshman Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis), and sophomore Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) at No. 4 singles.
Bandrowski's 23 singles wins put her in a tie for fourth place among Flying Dutch players.
Bandrowski is within two wins of the school record shared by Kristin Kooyer (25-2 at No. 4 singles in 1998) and Audrey Coates (25-3 at No. 1 singles in 1996).
Interim head coach Nate Price guided Hope to its third consecutive MIAA regular-season championship.
