Nicholas Salomon placed runner-up in the 800 meters at the Hillsdale College Gina Relays this weekend, while Joshua Izenbart came in fifth in the decathlon.

The nonscoring meet featured competitors from NCAA Division I, II and III as well as NAIA.

Salomon clocked a time of 1 minute, 54.39 seconds. In the field of 62 runners, he finished only behind Wabash's Hayden Baehl (1:53.84).

Izenbart totaled a fifth-place score of 5,581 points.

The freshman from Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) recorded the top performances in two events: the high jump at 1.92 meters (6 feet, 3 ½ inches) and the 400 meters at 51.02 seconds.

Izenbart raced to a second-place time in the 1,500 meters at 4:54.04.

Izenbart finished fourth in the javelin at 41.11 meters (134-10).

Izenbart took sixth in the 110 hurdles at 17.13 seconds.

Izenbart placed seventh in the 100 meters at 11.81 seconds.

Izenbart was eighth in the pole vault at 2.75 meters (9-0 ¼), long jump at 5.93 meters (19-5 ½), shot put at 9.91 meters (32-6 ¼), and the discus at 25.68 meters (84-3).
