The Hope College outdoor men's track & field team won two events and totaled five top-three finishers at the Wheaton Invitational on Saturday.
In the steeplechase, junior Ben Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois earned top honors with a run of 9 minutes, 39.42 seconds.
Senior Cameron Jones of Holland, Michigan (Black River) won the 800 meters. He clocked a first-place time of 1:56.96.
The Flying Dutchmen finished sixth out of 10 teams with 57 points.
Hope's 4x100 relay of sophomore Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa), senior Ben Seppa of Jackson, Michigan (Jackson), freshman Adam Howard of Jacksonville, Illinois (Routt Catholic), and junior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills) posted a runner-up time of 43.27 seconds.
Wolliston came in third place in the 400 meters with a run of 50.49 seconds.
Senior Tyler Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) came in third in the steeplechase at 9:48.66.
Freshman Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor) took fourth in the high jump by clearing 1.97 meters (6 feet, 6 inches).
Hope's 4x400 relay of freshman Jordan Corstange of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Christian), senior Nicholas Salomon of Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit), Jones, and Wolliston clocked a fifth-place effort of 3:27.60.
Howard placed sixth in the 200 meters with a time of 23.10.
Sophomore Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville) finished seventh in the triple jump at 12.48 meters (40-11).
Sophomore Tyler Webb of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Grandville) came in seventh in the javelin at 40.40 meters (132-6).
Pederson was eighth in the 400 hurdles at 59.75 seconds.
Hope returns to action on Thursday, April 13 at Adrian's Don Kleinow Invitational.
