Women's Tennis Closes Midwest Invite With Sweep Of Ranked Kenyon

The 23rd-ranked Hope College women's tennis team finished the two-day Midwest Invitational with a 9-0 win against No. 32 Kenyon, Ohio on Saturday in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Flying Dutch (12-3 overall) went 2-1 during the tournament against three nationally ranked opponents.

In singles play, senior Nancy Benda of Birmingham, Michigan (Seaholm HS) defeated Diana Aboubakare at the No. 1 flight 7-6 (6), 6-3.

At No. 2, freshman Amanda Bandrowski of Traverse City, Michigan (St. Francis) beat Maggie Sweeney 5-7, 6-2, 10-5.

At No. 3, freshman Claire Hallock of Lakeland, Florida (Harrison Center) downed Jenna Murray 6-1, 6-2.

At No. 4, sophomore Taylor LaBarge of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) claimed a 6-3, 3-6, 12-10 win against Mara Kaspers.

At No. 5, freshman Quincey Glupker of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) earned a 6-0, 3-6, 10-0 win against Annie Reiner.

At No. 6, junior Natalie Rahrig of Fort Wayne, Indiana (Bishop Luers) served up a 7-6 (6), 6-3 win against Alyssa Moreau.

In doubles play, Benda and Glupker teamed for an 8-1 win against Grace Winslow and Sweeney at the top flight.

At No. 2, Bandrowski and Labarge defeated Murray and Aboubakare 8-3.

At No. 3, senior Christin Drozd of Allegan, Michigan (Allegan) and Hallock beat Kaspers and Reiner 8-6.

Hope returns to action on Monday, April 10 with a 4 p.m. match at Alma.
