Benjamin Pederson and Nicholas Salomon will represent the Hope College men's track & field team at the 2017 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships this week in Geneva, Ohio outside of Cleveland.
Pederson will race in the 3,000-meter steeplechase for the first time, while Salomon will run the 800 meters for the second time.
The three-day competition at SPIRE Institute starts on Thursday.
Pederson will compete in the steeplechase preliminaries at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The junior from Mount Prospect, Illinois (Prospect HS) is seeded 12th.
Pederson clocked a qualifying time of 9 minutes, 7.65 seconds at the North Central Invitational on May 12 in Naperville, Illinois. He set a school record.
Saturday's steeplechase finals are at 11:45 p.m. Saturday.
Salomon is seeded eighth for the 800-meter preliminaries that will be held Friday at 4 p.m.
The senior from Troy, Michigan (Detroit Jesuit) ran his qualifying time of 1:50.51 last week at the North Central Dr. Keeler Invitational in Naperville, Illinois.
Salomon placed 10th in the 800 meters last year at nationals.
Saturday's finals are at 2 p.m.
