Men's Cross Country Places Third At Vanderbilt Invitational

Jacob Jansen posted a sixth-place finish to lead the Hope College men's cross country team at its Vanderbilt Invitational on Saturday.

The Flying Dutchmen totaled 67 points in the five-team event to place third.

Jansen, a senior from Johnston, Iowa (Johnston HS), clocked a time of 27 minutes, 11.6 seconds at Ridge Point Community Church. He is pictured at right.

Junior Brett Slayton of Holland, Michigan (Hamilton), took 11th with a run of 27:22.9.

Junior Ryan Holman of Holmen, Wisconsin (Holmen), came in 12th at 27:30.7.

Sophomore Joseph Dawson of Richland, Michigan, (Gull Lake) finished 17th at 27:50.2.

Senior Nicholai Shaw of Allendale, Michigan (Homeschool), rounded up Hope's scoring in 21st at 27:58.8.

Other top seven finishers for Hope were sophomore Ty Hergenreder of Davison, Michigan (Goodrich) in 23rd at 28:18.1 and freshman Quentin Couvelaire of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven) in 24th at 28:20.6.

NCAA Division II Davenport won with 41 points and was followed by Cornerstone (48), Hope, Calvin (94) and Muskegon Community College (113).
