Josh Gibson fired a 4-under-par 68 for the 13th-ranked Hope College men's golf team Friday during the first round of the 36-hole Hopkins Golf Collegiate hosted by Millikin Invitational in Decatur, Illinois.

The junior from Grandville, Michigan (Grandville HS), pictured, leads a field of 111 golfers.

Hope is in second place in the 17-team event with a team score of 297. The Flying Dutchmen trail fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan by only three strokes heading into Saturday's final round.

The Flying Dutchmen received a pair of 76s from senior Kade Hoeksema of Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian) and junior Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake).

Two Hope golfers chipped in 77s: junior Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) and sophomore Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills).
