Women's Golf Opens MIAA Fall Tournament In Fourth Place

Jordyn Rioux carded a 9-over-par 81 for the low round of the day for the Hope College women's golf team during the first round of the 36-hole Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Fall Tournament.

The sophomore from Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood HS) tied for ninth place individually Friday at Bedford Valley Golf Club in Battle Creek.

The Flying Dutch shot a team score of 343 to finish fourth in the nine-team event. They finished behind Saint Mary's College (304), Albion College (336), and Calvin College (342).

Hope remains in second place in the fall standings after 90 holes. The Flying Dutch hold a 43-stroke lead over third-place Albion College and a 45-stroke lead over fourth-place Calvin. Saint Mary's is in first by 137 strokes.

Saturday's final round of the MIAA Fall Tournament is scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m.

Sophomore Abigail Meder of Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Catholic Central) chipped in an 85 for Hope Friday.

Freshman Megan Radaz of Alma, Michigan (Alma) carded an 87.

Senior Ariana Stewart of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Comstock) completed the Flying Dutch's scoring with a 90.

Freshman Megan Jenkinson of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. West) shot a 93. Playing as an individual, freshman Deanna DeLeeuw of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) had an 87.
