The Hope College men's indoor track & field team recorded the top two performances in the 4x400 relay at the nonscoring Grand Valley State University Tune-Up on Friday in Allendale.
Freshman Terrell Solberg of Traverse City, Michigan (Central HS), senior Brandon Wolliston of Remus, Michigan (Chippewa Hills), junior Tucker Gibbons of Fowlerville, Michigan (Fowlerville), and senior Matt Ruff of Wayne, Illinois (Wheaton Academy) recorded a winning time of 3 minutes, 24.53 seconds.
The Flying Dutchmen's runner-up in the event was the relay of junior Eddie Ip of Grand Rapids, Michigan (South Christian), sophomore Joshua Izenbart of Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor), sophomore Ty Hergenreder of Davison, Michigan (Goodrich, and junior Collin Thomas of Novi, Michigan (Novi) at 3:27.03.
Izenbart tied for second in the high jump by clearing 1.90 meters (6 feet, 2 ¾ inches). Freshman Jared Lowe of Cincinnati, Ohio (Wyoming) and sophomore Brandon Maurice of Howell, New Jersey (Howell) tied for fourth at 1.85 meters (6-0 ¾).
Wolliston finished third in the 400 meters after posting a time of 49.08 seconds.
Sophomore Korey Derr of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Northville) took fifth in the 60-meter dash with a run of 7.12 seconds. He was followed by two teammates: sophomore Emmanuel Harinda of Holland, Michigan (Holland) in sixth at 7.15 seconds and junior Justin Freeman of Holland, Michigan (West Ottawa) in seventh at 7.16 seconds.
Gibbons came in fifth in the triple jump at 12.37 meters (40-7).
Izenbart qualified for the 60-meter hurdle final and came in sixth with a time of 9.00 seconds.
Senior Benjamin Pederson of Mount Prospect, Illinois (Mount Prospect) placed eighth in the 1-mile run. He had a time of 4:23.55.
