Women's Swimming 800 Freestyle Relay Places Runner-Up To Open MIAA Championships

The Hope College women's swimming & diving team opened the 2018 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Championships with a runner-up finish in the 800-yard freestyle relay.

Freshman Meg Peel of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS), senior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), junior Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian), and junior Abigail Brinks of Commerce Township, Michigan (Walled Lake Northern) clocked a season-best time of 7 minutes, 43.62 seconds.

The Flying Dutch are in second place after the first day of competition with 34 points. Calvin won the 800 freestyle relay and is in first place in the team standings with 40 points.

The four-day meet at Calvin College continues Thursday.
