Sydney Jones struck out the first seven batters she faced on Thursday. She finished unhittable.

The senior from South Lyon, Michigan (East HS) fired the 10th no-hitter in Hope College history during a 2-0 victory against Plymouth State in Clermont, Florida.

The Flying Dutch then beat New Paltz 14-1 in five innings to push their win streak to seven games and improve to 9-2 overall.

"She was clicking today," head coach Mary VandeHoef said. "She was getting ahead in the count. Her screwball and riseball were very effective. They were aggressive. They were swinging at pitches other teams we were waiting on."

Jones (4-1) faced only 23 batters — two above the minimum. One reached on a fielding error by Jones, while the other reached after a dropped third strike.

Jones — Hope's all-time strikeout leader — fanned 13.

Jones joined a group of eight different Hope pitchers with no-hitters. She's the first since Andrea Reinecke tossed a perfect game against Kalamazoo in 2011.

Hope supported Jones with an RBI double from designated player Katie Singer of Howell, Michigan (Hartland) in the fourth and a run-scoring groundout from centerfielder Noelle Jackson of Grand Blanc, Michigan (Grand Blanc) in the fifth.

Against New Paltz, 10 different Flying Dutch player recorded hits, while seven had an RBI.

Leftfielder Jo Cook of Birch Run, Michigan (Birch Run) and third baseman Morgan Kanouse of Cadillac, Michigan (Cadillac) knocked in two apiece.

Singer (4-1) allowed one run and three hits in five innings of work.
