Swimmer Meg Peel Places 23rd In 200 Backstroke At NCAA Championships

Hope College swimmer Meg Peel finished 23rd in the 200-yard backstroke on Saturday during the final day of the NCAA Division III Championships in Indianapolis.

The record-setting freshman from Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake HS) clocked a time of 2 minutes, 4.14 seconds during preliminaries. The top 16 advanced to the evening's finals.

On Friday, Peel, pictured, placed 29th in the 100 backstroke. She went 57.15 seconds during preliminaries.

On Thursday, Peel led off the 400 medley relay that finished with the 24th best time. She teamed with freshman Emma Schaefer of DeWitt, Michigan (St. Johns), senior Chloe Palajac of Dearborn, Michigan (Dearborn), and junior Sydney Asselin of Holland, Michigan (Holland Christian) for a time of 3:55.89.

On Wednesday, Peel swam the opening leg of the 200 medley relay that came in 26th. She and Schaefer, Palajac and Asselin clocked a time of 1:46.86.
