Kade Hoeksema and the Hope College men's golf team stepped away from its national qualifier to claim victory at the Kalamazoo College Steven Tyler Intercollegiate on Monday.
The Flying Dutchmen won the 18-hole event with a team score of 289. They finished seven strokes ahead of runner-up Trine in the six-team event.
Hoeksema, pictured, earned medalist honors. The senior from Byron Center, Michigan (South Christian HS) fired a 4-under-par 67 at the Moors.
Junior Josh Gibson of Grandville, Michigan (Grandville) finished at 1-over. He placed third.
Sophomore Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan (Bloomfield Hills) took fourth at 2-over.
The Flying Dutchmen also received 77 from junior Andrew Goble of Brighton, Michigan (Brighton) and an 82 from junior Ben Kramer of Spring Lake, Michigan (Spring Lake).
