Men's Golf Ups Lead At NCAA Championships Qualifier

The 11th-ranked Hope College men's golf team made the most of the first two trips to Grand Rapids this weekend.

The Flying Dutchmen extended their lead at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association NCAA Division III Championship qualifier by firing a second-round team score of 294 at Watermark Country Club on Friday.

With four scoring golfers within four strokes of each other, Hope finished eight strokes ahead of second-place Calvin and pushed its lead over the Knights to nine strokes.

Saturday's final round tees off at 10 a.m. at Watermark. The cumulative leader after 54 holes receives the MIAA's automatic bid to nationals.
