Hope College's Joshua Izenbart placed 16th in the nation in the decathlon on Friday in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
The sophomore from Glenwood, Illinois (Homewood-Flossmoor HS) finished the two-day competition with 6,162 points. It was his first appearance at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
On Friday, Izenbart earned his highest point total of the day with 750 points in the 110-meter hurdles. He clocked a time of 15.85 seconds.
In the discus, he threw 31.88 meters (104 feet, 7 inches). In the pole vault, he cleared 3.20 meters (10-7).
In the javelin, he heaved a toss of 49.46 meters (162-03).
Izenbart closed the decathlon with a 1,500-meter run of 4:53.38.
