Freshman Megan Jenkinson, pictured, and the Hope College women's golf team made the most of the home-course advantage.
The Flying Dutch won their four-team invitational Saturday afternoon by posting a team score of 329 at The Ravines Golf Club in Saugatuck and finishing 17 strokes ahead of runner-up Calvin College. North Central College (Illinois) took third with a team score of 357. Wheaton College (Illinois) was fourth with a 377.
Sophomore Abigail Meder of Lansing, Michigan (Catholic Central) fired a 5-over-par 77 to claim medalist honors for the second consecutive tournament. She went 1-over on the front nine.
On Thursday, Meder carded a 2-over-par 74 at the season-opening Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree at The Medalist Golf Club in Marshall, Michigan.
Jenkinson, of Traverse City, Michigan (West) and sophomore Jordyn Rioux of Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood) tied for fourth with 82s.
Senior Ariana Stewart of Kalamazoo, Michigan (Comstock) chipped in an 88 to complete Hope's scoring.
The Flying Dutch also received rounds of 91 from freshmen Megan Radaz of Alma, Michigan (Alma) and Deanna DeLeeuw of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville). Freshman Lexi Miler of Bremen, Indiana (Bremen) had a 99.
Hope returns to competition on Saturday, September 22 with the MIAA Jamboree at Knollwood Country Club in Granger, Indiana.
