Every stroke counted for the Hope College women's golf team during the third Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Jamboree on Wednesday in Angola, Indiana.
The Flying Dutch shot a runner-up total of 333 at Trine University's Zollner Golf Course and finished ahead of three teams by one stroke.
Sophomore Megan Jenkinson of Traverse City, Michigan (T.C. West HS), pictured, carded a 7-over-par 79 to lead Hope. She finished fifth in the individual standings
Saint Mary's (312) won. The Flying Dutch edged Trine, Calvin University and Olivet College, who all tied for third.
Freshman Grace VanDellen of Oxford, Michigan (Lutheran Northwest) tied for 11th place after carding an 82 for Hope.
Juniors Jordyn Rioux of Farmington, Michigan (Livonia Ladywood HS) and Abigail Meder of Lansing, Michigan (Lansing Catholic Central) both shot 86s for the Flying Dutch.
Sophomore Lexi Miller of Bremen, Indiana (Bremen) finished with a 90.
Playing as individuals, sophomore Deanna DeLeeuw of Hudsonville, Michigan (Hudsonville) and freshman Rita Cheney of Mason, Michigan (Mason) both fired 91s for Hope.
The Flying Dutch's next event is Thursday, October 3 with the MIAA Jamboree at the Medalist Golf Course hosted by Olivet College.
