Men's Golf Takes Second in First Round of MIAA Fall Finish

Every Hope College men's golfer fired rounds below the field's scoring average at the Forest Akers West Course in the MIAA Fall Finish on Friday. Those efforts landed the Flying Dutchmen squarely in second place on the day with a team score of 299. They remain in second place overall also with 1508. 

With one more round to go in league competition this fall, Hope is 35 strokes in front of third-place Kalamazoo College (1543) and 44 strokes behind first-place Trine University (1464).

On Friday, Trine won the day with a 290 while Calvin University took third with 302. Kalamazoo was fourth with 309. Trine's Grant Brettnacher was medalist with a four-under 68.

MIAA Standings

As the field shot an average score of 78.56 on Friday, each Flying Dutchmen shot under that number.

Senior Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills (Bloomfield Hills HS) and freshman Jack Crawford of Carmel, Ind. (Carmel HS) scored 73s each, tying them for third place.

Freshman Drew Dykens of Holland (West Ottawa HS) carded a 76 while senior Noah Weigle of Grandville (Grandville HS) and freshman Seth Almquist of Minneapolis, Minn. (Wayzata HS) each shot 77s.

The league's last round of competition tees off Saturday, Oct. 5 at 10 a.m., again on the Forest Akers West Course for the final day of the MIAA Fall Finish.
