Men's Lacrosse Edges Lawrence Tech In Season Opener

The Hope College men's lacrosse team held off a late charge from Lawrence Tech to win its season opener, 14-13, on Friday in Birmingham, Michigan.

The Flying Dutchmen did not allow a shot after Lawrence Tech pulled within a goal with 34 seconds remaining and gained possession following a turnover on the restart. Lawrence Tech outscored Hope 6-0 during the fourth quarter.

Freshman attacker Jack Radzville of Howell, Michigan (Howell HS), pictured, led the Flying Dutchmen with four goals in his college debut.

Junior attacker Max Kuiper of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Forest Hills Central) chipped in two goals.

Hope received goals from nine other Hope players.

Senior goalie Nick Schanhals of North Muskegon, Michigan (North Muskegon) made nine saves for the Flying Dutchmen.

Hope returns to action on Saturday, February 23 at Elmhurst College (Illinois).
