In postseason play, the Hope College men's basketball team renews The Rivalry with Calvin College for the 201st time tonight at 7 p.m. in Grand Rapids. The Flying Dutchmen lead the all-time series, 103-97. Tonight's winner advances to Friday's 3 p.m. MIAA Tournament final and will host and top-seeded Trine University.

HOPE-CALVIN REWIND: THIS SEASON

The Flying Dutchmen lost both regular-season meetings by a total of six points: 74-70 at Calvin on January 9 and 82-80 at DeVos Fieldhouse on February 2.

Only 100 points separate the teams over 200 games, a difference of only 0.50 points per game. Hope has scored 13,664 points, an average of 68.32 per game. Calvin has scored 13,564 points, an average of 67.82 points per game.

COACHING MATCHUP

Hope coach Greg Mitchell owns a 5-7 record against Calvin since becoming head coach prior to the 2014-15 season. Mitchell went 6-3 against the Knights as a player between the 1985-86 and 1988-89 seasons. Calvin coach Kevin Vande Streek is 27-37 against Hope since his debut with the Knights in the 1996-97 season.

The Flying Dutchmen are 9-7 all-time at Calvin's Van Noord Arena since its debut. Hope is 12-9 against the Knights at DeVos Fieldhouse since the facility opened.

MIAA TOURNAMENT HISTORY

The Flying Dutchmen are 46-15 all-time in MIAA Tournament history, including a 10-7 record against Calvin. This is the first time the two teams have met in the MIAA Tournament outside of the semifinal or championship games since the MIAA Tournament debuted in 1992. In the last meeting, Calvin defeated Hope in the 2017 championsnhip game at DeVos Fieldhouse.
