Men's Golf Opens Spring Season with Win in Florida

The 12th-ranked Hope College men's golf team opened its spring schedule on Monday with a 25-stroke dual match victory over Ave Maria University (Florida). In their first competition in five months, the Flying Dutchmen finished with a team total of 294 to top their NAIA opponent's 319 at Grey Oaks Country Club in Naples, Florida.

Senior Josh Gibson of Grandville (Grandville HS) led Hope with a five-under round of 67. Senior Andrew Goble of Brighton (Brighton HS) followed with an even-par 72; junior Noah Weigle of Grandville (Grandville HS) shot a round of 77; junior Daniel Settecerri of Bloomfield Hills (Bloomfield Hills HS) carded a 78; and, senior Ben Kramer of Spring Lake (Spring Lake HS) finished with an 80.

"It was a pleasure and a privilege to play at Grey Oaks," said head coach Scott Lokers. "As a team, it was good to be back in competition, to be back together. Overall, this was a good starting point for our spring season."
