Hope College's Mitchel Achien'g has been named the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Outdoor Women's Field Athlete of the Week.

The junior from Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu School) tied a school record in the outdoor triple jump on Friday during a dual-meet victory against Calvin College.

Achien'g posted a first-place effort of 11.32 meters (37 feet, 1 ¾ inches) that matched Shaelie Harper's 2010 school record.

Achien'g won two additional individual events during the meet: the 200-meter dash in 27.41 seconds and the long jump with a leap of 5.39 meters (17-8 ¼). She also anchored the winning 4x100 relay.

This is the first time Achien'g has received weekly honors from the MIAA.
