Six from Women's Track and Field Receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors

Six members of the MIAA indoor champion Hope College women's track and field team have been named All-Academic Athletes for the 2020 season by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association: Mitchel Achien'g, Anna Frazee, Sally Hansma, Hannah Kenny, Chelsea Miskelley and Ana Tucker.

They were among 433 NCAA Division III women's student-athletes to be recognized.

To qualify, student-athletes must meet the following standards:

  • Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a 4.0 scale through the most recently completed grading period.

  • Graduate students must take all undergraduate plus graduate coursework into account.

  • Meet one of the following athletic criteria:

  1. Must have finished the indoor season among the top 50 individuals as listed on the descending order lists on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 50, but who were accepted into the Indoor National Championship, are eligible

  2. Must have competed as a member of one of the top 35 relay teams as listed on the indoor descending order list on TFRRS. In addition, any athletes not among the top 35 relay teams, but who were accepted in the relay at the Indoor National Championship (alternates are excluded), are eligible. Finally, any competing relay team member on an expanded descending order list to include 35 institutions (1 relay team per institution) is eligible.

Achien'g, of Nairobi, Kenya (Kisumu School), was named a USTFCCCA Indoor All-American and MIAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year this season. She graduated in May with a degree in economics.

Frazee, of Watervliet, Michigan (Home Schoo), also earned USTFCCCA Indoor All-America honors during this season. She graduated in May with a degree in education (math).

Tucker, of Midland, Michigan (H.H. Dow), received USTFCCCA Indoor All-America honors during her freshman season.

Hansma, of Grand Rapids, Michigan (Jenison), claimed all-region honors from the USTFCCCA during the indoor season. She graduated in May with degrees in nursing and Spanish.

Kenny, of Grand Haven, Michigan (Grand Haven), earned honorable-mention all-region honors from the USTFCCCA during the indoor season. She graduated in May with degrees in social work and Spanish.

Miskelley, of Black River, Michigan (Black River), received all-region honor from the USTFCCCA during the indoor season. She graduated in May with a degree in biochemistry and molecular biology.
