The Hope College men's basketball team aims to move up this season after placing fourth in the 2021-22 Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Preseason Coaches Poll.
The Flying Dutchmen totaled 31 points. Coaches could not vote for their own team.
Led by head coach Greg Mitchell, Hope returns three starters, including All-MIAA Second Team guard Tyler George (Ada, Michigan / Forest Hills Central HS).

Junior forward Evan Thomas (Okemos, Michigan / Okemos) and junior guard Clayton Dykhouse (Zeeland, Michigan (Zeeland East) also are back for Hope.
The Flying Dutchmen tip off the season on Friday, Nov. 12, at 7 p.m. Central at fourth-ranked Illinois Wesleyan University at the Jack Sikma Invitational.
Hope's first MIAA game is Wednesday, Jan. 5, at 7:30 against Trine University at DeVos Fieldhouse.
Trine finished first in the MIAA poll with 49 points and all seven possible first-place votes. The remainder of the poll featured Albion College (40), Calvin University (39 points, 1 first-place vote), Hope (31), Adrian College (22), Olivet College (21), Alma College (13), and Kalamazoo College (9).
