Freshman Sara Kraus was a double-event winner for the No. 20-ranked Hope College women's swimming and diving team on Saturday as the Flying Dutch topped Alma College, 118-77, at the Holland Aquatic Center.
Kraus, a native of Rockford, Michigan (Rockford), was victorious in 50-yard freestyle (25.20) and the 100-yard freestyle (55.10).
Seven other Flying Dutch added to the team's winning total with first-place finishes. They were:

- Freshman Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central), clocking in at 2:02.62;
- Sophomore Jess Estabrook (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel) in the 200 individual medley, touching with at 2:17.95;
- Freshman Abby Koops (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) on the 1-meter diving board with 212.60;

- Sophomore Ashley Geddes (Zeeland, Michigan / Zeeland East) in the 200 backstroke, finishing in 2:17.26; and,
- Sophomore Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn) in the 500 free, clocking a tome of 5:37.44.
"Jess Estabrook, Grace Wesley, Alyssa Kerkman (who won the 200 breaststroke while swimming exhibition), I thought those three executed some things really well today," said head coach Jake Taber. "We're starting to put a few things together within the swims and build on swims from earlier in the year. It's starting to come together at the right time. Still, obviously some things that we need to work on, but I was pleased with our swims today."
Hope competes next in a three-day invitational meet at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio from Thursday, Nov. 18 to Saturday, Nov. 20. Coach Jake Taber feels the event will give his squad top competition against some of the best teams in NCAA Division III.
"We're heading into our mid-season invite next weekend pretty healthy, which is nice," said Taber. "We're definitely excited to swim (at Kenyon). The new polls came out this week and Kenyon has the number one team in the country on both sides. Carnegie Mellon will be there as well and they are perennially top 10, top 15 programs. So we're going to be exposed to some of the best athletes in the country and that's what we want to see. That's going to help prepare us better for February."
