Hope College swimmer Sara Kraus set a school record in the 200-yard individual medley to lead the 20th-ranked Flying Dutch at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational on Thursday.
The freshman from Rockford, Michigan (Rockford HS) posted a time of 2 minutes, 3.55 seconds. Kraus eclipsed teammate Emma Schaefer's previous record of 2:04.92 set at last spring's MIAA championships.

Hope is in fourth place after the opening day of the three-day meet with 254 points.
The Flying Dutch finished fourth in the 200 freestyle relay. Freshman Lauren Ryle (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Catholic Central), Kraus, sophomore Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn), and sophomore Madeline Tessin (Waxhaw, N.C. / Marvin Ridge) clocked a time of 1:36.40.
In the 400-yard freestyle relay, Hope placed in 11th place and 16th place.
The 400 medley relay of freshman Norah Martin (Middleton, Wisconsin / Middleton ), sophomore Rachel Gamm (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford), senior Aubrey East (Farmington Hills, Michigan / North Farmington), and Tessin in 4:00.05.
The 400 medley relay of freshman Grace Wesley (Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan / Grosse Pointe North), sophomore Jess Estabrook (Carmel, Indiana / Carmel), sophomore Maggie Hoerner (Lansing, Michigan / Holt) and freshman Katie Weedon (Whitinsville, Massachusetts / Whitinsville Christian) placed 16th after a time of 4:07.36.
Ryle was 15th in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.76 seconds.
In the 500-yard freestyle, Weeden put up a 5:10.61 for 16th place.
The meet continues on Friday, Nov. 19, with preliminaries at 10 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
