The Hope College women's swim and dive team registered five Top 10 finishes in swim events and four Top 10 finishes in diving, on Friday at the Kenyon College Total Performance Invitational.
Senior Emma Schaefer (Dewitt, Michigan / Saint Johns HS) took third place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 4.40 seconds.
In the 400 IM prelims, Schaefer, pictured left, clocked a swim of 4:31.96 that ranks her third all-time with the Flying Dutch.
Freshman Sara Kraus (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford) would have a big day, as she took home second in the 100-yard breaststroke after finishing at 1:03.89, a time that's second-fastest all-time in Flying Dutch history.
Kraus also participated in a 100-yard backstroke time trial and clocked a 56.44 that's second all-time for the Flying Dutch.
Four Hope divers finished in the Top 10 in 1-meter diving. Freshman Abby Koops (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern) led the way, taking home first with a score of 418.80.
Sophomore Cameron Hamilton (Libertyville, Illinois / Libertyville), pictured, right, came in fourth for the orange and blue with a 389.05 score. Sophomore Sophia Farbarzhevich (Grand Rapids, Michigan / Forest Hills Northern), snared a fifth-place finish, while freshman Micheala Sander (Muskegon, Michigan / Mona Shores) was eighth.
Freshman Grace Wesley, a Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan (Grosse Pointe North) native, finishing at 4:36.31 for sixth place — ranking her 10th all-time at Hope.
Freshman Katie Weedon (Whitinsville, Massachusetts / Whitinsville Christian) placed eighth in the 200-yard freestyle swim, going 1:55.57.
The 20th-ranked Flying Dutch also took eighth in the 800 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay.
The 800 freestyle relay of sophomore Delaney Wesolek (Bay City, Michigan / John Glenn), Weedon, Wesley, and sophomore Maggie Hoerner (Lansing, Michigan / Holt) went 7:53.06.
The 200 medley relay of junior Norah Martin (Middleton, Wisconsin / Middleton), sophomore Rachel Gamm (Rockford, Michigan / Rockford), Weedon, and sophomore Maddie Kievit (Grandville, Michigan / Grandville) recorded a time of 1:50.14. I
Hope is in fourth place after two days and will complete the final day of competition on Saturday, Nov. 20, at Kenyon College with preliminaries at 10:30 a.m. and finals at 6 p.m.
